*A gathering of about 30 friends of Silo, connected through activities concerning The Message of Silo, and the Humanist Movement over these past forty years, took place at Parke Banahaw, Philippines, Saturday November 2010. The occasion was marked with the symbolic scattering of Silo’s ashes. Friends from around Asia and Australia also took part.*

Today we are Nayem Elgarhi, we are the mother weeping for her son. Today we are each of the dead, each person battered in the camp of Gdeim Izik. Today we are each of the missing, each of the violated, each of those persecuted for speaking out. Today we are one of the forgotten. Today we also belong to the Saharawi people.

The European Commissioner for Justice, Viviane Reding, stated on Friday last that the situation of the Roma people living in Europe is a “scandalous matter” “We have the largest minority in Europe – 10 million people – living in absolute poverty, without access to housing and often without any access to healthcare“, she said.

Western governments have called Myanmar elections November 7, 2010, a “missed opportunity” according to press agencies AFP and Al Jazeera as Myanmar’s military government set itself up to win the country’s first elections in 20 years, with the ruling generals voting themselves back into power, amid opposition claims of intimidation and poll irregularities.

The Hungarian-German, French-Italian, Portuguese-English versions of the book were not presented at this time as the Camilo Mori room became overcrowded with an audience almost exclusively Chilean. The project coordinators, G. Tomas Hirsch and Rafael A. Edwards explained the meaning of the book and the difficulties overcome in order to publish it.

The new book of Rebecca Bize Bintrup and Mario Aguilar Arevalo aimed at educating for an active consciousness and providing a new educational paradigm, was presented to a full house at the International Book Fair of Santiago, in the Cultural Center, where the authors were signing books at Stand D 52, of the New Humanist publications.

Here we transcribe the whole of Dr Guillermo Sullings’ lecture from the Second International Symposium organised by the World Centre of Humanist Studies in the virtually interconnected Parks of Study and Reflection. Sullings, an Argentinean Economist, presented his work in the Punta de Vacas Park of Study and Reflection, Mendoza, Argentina.
